Cervical spondylosis is a degenerative condition of the cervical spine (neck). It is a natural process of aging in which wear and tear occurs in the cervical bone and cartilage. In the cervical spine this chronic degenerative process affects the intervertebral discs and facet joints, and may progress to disk herniation, bone spur formation, vertebral body degeneration, or compression of the spinal cord. It presents in the majority of people after the fifth decade of life.
